Pharmacy FAQ

Does Wegmans accept faxed prescriptions?

Wegmans only accepts faxed prescriptions from the prescribing practitioner/physician.

When can I pick up my prescription?

Your prescription could be ready in as little as 24 hours depending on the day and/or time of day you submit your request. Please check the status of your order at Wegmans Pharmacy Online before visiting the store to pick up your order.

For prescriptions transferred between Wegmans Pharmacies, your order will be ready in as little as 2 hours depending on the time of day you submit your transfer request. Orders submitted after our pharmacy closes will be ready 2 hours from the time the pharmacy reopens the next day.

What if I couldn’t make it to pick up my prescription?

Prescriptions are returned to our shelves if they haven’t been picked up in 10 days. If you still need the medication, just give us a call. We’ll be glad to fill it again for you.

I’m almost out of medication, but I haven’t received a call!

If you’re down to your last few doses and you still haven’t heard from us, call your local Wegmans Pharmacy. Often, you may have just missed our call and we can confirm that your prescription is ready to be picked up. If there is an issue, we’ll let you know how we’re addressing it and when your prescription should be available.

What devices and browsers can I use to access Wegmans Pharmacy Online?

Wegmans Pharmacy Online can be accessed using a PC or iPad through any of the more commonly used browsers (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari). At this time, the full Wegmans Pharmacy Online experience is not available on smartphones or Android tablets.

How do I place an order for my prescriptions using Wegmans Pharmacy Online?

The “Refill Prescriptions” feature allows you to see a comprehensive 18 month history of all prescriptions you have on record with us at any one of our locations. Your history is broken into 3 tabs: “Available to Order”, “Orders in Process”, and “Unavailable to Order”.

  • The “Available to Order” tab displays prescriptions for which an order can be placed at the present time. From this list, just point and click to the prescription(s) you’d like us to fill then review and submit your order.
  • The “Orders in Process” tab displays all prescriptions we are already filling for you at any of our locations and if they are ready to be picked up yet.
  • The “Unavailable to Order” tab displays prescriptions that cannot be filled at this time and the specific reason why. For example, the prescription is too soon to fill, is no longer active, or has been replaced by a newer prescription.

If I create a Wegmans Pharmacy Online profile, will I still be able to call in refills?

Yes, you can choose whichever method of placing an order that is most convenient for you at the time.

Will Wegmans contact my doctor for me when I have no refills left or my prescription is expired?

Yes, from the “Available to Order” tab, just point and click to the prescription that is out of refills or expired to add it to your order. Once the order is submitted, we will take care of the rest!

Can I ask questions of a pharmacist via Wegmans Pharmacy Online, or speak to a pharmacist about prescriptions that are mailed to me?

No, you are not able to communicate directly with a pharmacist online, but a Wegmans pharmacist is available to go over your medications via telephone at 1-800-934-4797 Monday–Friday from 8:30am to 9:00pm, Saturday from 8:30am to 6:00pm, and Sunday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Also, a pharmacist is available at your local Wegmans Pharmacy during normal business hours. A pharmacist will contact you for consultation by phone on all new medications or changes in therapy for prescriptions that are shipped to your home.

Can I have some prescriptions mailed to me and pick up others in the store?

Yes. You can use Free Home Delivery or your local Wegmans Pharmacy to fill any of your prescriptions. The choice is completely up to you!

Can you ship my prescription if it requires special storage such as refrigeration?

Yes. If you have a medication with special storage requirements, they will be met throughout the shipping process. Please note - all refrigerated items will automatically ship via Express Delivery (1-2 business days) free of charge.

How will medication shipped to my home be packaged?

All Free Home Delivery orders will be packaged discretely so that the contents of the package cannot be determined. Also in order to protect your privacy, there will be no indication on the packaging regarding its contents.

Why do I have to share my date-of-birth and address when picking up a prescription?

At Wegmans the health and wellness of every customer is of the utmost importance to us. We have many customers with similar names and use both of these methods as an extra safety check to ensure you are receiving the correct medication. However, if you are not comfortable saying this information aloud, you may certainly provide your license to help the representative identify your correct prescriptions.

How does Wegmans ensure its employees properly handle my health information?

At Wegmans, every employee that works in the pharmacy receives HIPAA training as the very first step in their pharmacy training, and also is required to complete periodic refreshers to stay up on all important privacy updates.

What security features exist to ensure the privacy of my pharmacy records online?

Maintaining the security of our pharmacy customer's personal information is very important to us which is why we have numerous measures in place to ensure your protection.

One such measure that you will see during the profile setup process is the personal identity verification check administered by our trusted business partner Experian®. This is a one-time process that involves answering specific questions generated by Experian® about you to ensure that the person attempting to access your pharmacy information is truly you.

Additionally, all of your personal information is stored in our secure HIPAA and PCI compliant database behind a firewall where it cannot be accessed without proper authorization.
