Verified with Confidence is a proprietary (and trademarked) vitamins/supplements quality assurance program designed to build on the quality, trust, and transparency that Wegmans customers expect. The program ensures that the vitamins/supplements, herbs, and probiotics we sell have been certified for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and tested to verify that what is on the label is actually what is in the bottle.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does Verified with Confidence mean?
How are these products tested?
All vitamins/supplements products sold at Wegmans have been tested and/or certified by NSF, an independent, global public health and safety organization.
Does this mean these vitamins/supplements are completely safe?
As with any vitamins/supplements, it’s important to talk to your doctor and your pharmacist to learn of any potential risks before using the product. The Verified with Confidence program is designed to help control the quality of the products sold at Wegmans.
What are Good Manufacturing Practices?
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are guidelines used by companies to demonstrate a commitment to quality in their processes, procedures, and documentation. Vitamins/supplements manufacturers must comply with federal regulations (Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 111 and Part 117).
What is included in product testing?
The assessment includes testing vitamins/supplements to verify that the Supplement Facts Panel reflects the product’s contents or that the Certificate of Analysis (COA) for the product accurately depicts its formulation and purity specifications.
Will Verified with Confidence increase the price of our products for our consumers?
This is a new standard practice of doing business with Wegmans. We do not pass those costs onto our customers.
How will new items be added?
After six months on the shelf, an item will be evaluated by the merchant to determine if sales warrant it staying. If approved, QA will be notified, and the process will begin.
How often are the products verified?
Products are verified annually.
What is the difference between NSF Product Certification and NSF Certification for Sport printed on some labels?
NSF Certified for Sport® is an additional degree of testing over and above the requirements met to achieve the NSF Product Contents Tested (NSF/ANSI 173 certification). The additional testing is directed to products intended for athletes and covers almost 300 banned substances like steroids and compounds that are typically referred to in the sports world as “PEDs” (performance enhancing drugs).
