Cooking Jasmati White Rice: 1-1/2 cups water; 1/2 tsp salt (optional); 1 tsp butter or olive oil (optional); 1 cup rice. Bring water to a boil. Add salt and butter or olive oil, if desired. Stir in rice. Cover with lid; reduce heat to low and simmer 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand (covered) 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve. Yields approximately 3-1/4 cups.
