Localizing Aquaponics for Sustainable Salmon
Our American Salmon is raised in innovative Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) in Wisconsin, offering a sustainable alternative to coastal farming. This method utilizes freshwater enclosures on land, ensuring optimal fish health without the need for hormones or antibiotics. Land-based RAS also prevents interaction with wild fish, supporting ocean ecosystem restoration.
The water in which the fish is grown passes through a filter before the nutrient-rich water is used to feed organic leafy greens, which in turn purify the water that is returned to the fish.
Smaller acreage means the farm grows 30x more food per acre.
Our American salmon is never airfreighted, which saves approximately 3,000 miles per shipment compared to Atlantic Ocean-sourced salmon.
Anything coming out of the fish house is converted into compost.
