Hunger relief remains the number one way Wegmans gives back to its communities, and the company is committed to maintaining this focus. Through its food rescue initiatives with its 50-plus food bank partners and their agencies, each year, Wegmans provides more than 30 million meals to people experiencing food insecurity.
Wegmans is holding its annual Check Out Hunger scan campaign now through November 29 at all 114 of its stores. Customers can donate $1, $2, $3, $5, or any amount at checkout, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to each store’s local food bank.
“Our Check Out Hunger campaign plays a vital role in raising funds for local food banks, and every contribution – big or small – makes a significant impact,” added Percassi. “For every $1 donated, food banks can provide three meals for those who need them most.
