LANCASTER, PA, Aug 13, 2018 – With approximately six weeks to go before the new store opens on Sunday, Sept. 23, Wegmans Food Markets today announced the management team for its Lancaster, Pennsylvania store. The group consists of the store manager, executive chef, pharmacy manager, and three area managers who each oversee several departments within the 120,000 square-foot supermarket.
This team brings more than 70 years of Wegmans experience combined, and were still hiring and training for available part-time culinary and customer service positions, said Lynn Franklin, human resources manager for the family-owned companys Pennsylvania stores. Store Manager Jimmy Bellis
Jimmy Bellis grew up in Bloomfield, New York, where his first job was working as a milk man for a family-owned company during summer breaks from school. In 2006, he graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in business and joined Wegmans as a management trainee in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. From there, he moved into department manager positions in overnight grocery, on the front end, and in seafood. Bellis assisted with store openings and was promoted to area manager in 2011. He was named store manager at Wegmans State College location in 2015, a post he held until he accepted the opportunity to open the Lancaster store in 2017. Bellis will lead 475 employees at the new store and is eager to bring a new shopping experience to the area.
Executive Chef Keith Briggs
Keith Briggs has worked in the food industry since he was 16, starting as a restaurant dish washer and prep cook. A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, he joined Wegmans as a cook team leader in 2009 at the companys Collegeville, Pennsylvania store. He was later promoted to sous chef and became executive chef for the Lancaster location in 2017. There, he will oversee 100 culinary employees who make Wegmans restaurant-quality prepared foods. He looks forward to opening The Burger Bar because it will be the first of its kind at a Wegmans store in Pennsylvania.
Pharmacy Area Manager Laura Cerza
Laura Cerza, PharmD, graduated with a bachelors degree in pharmacy from Ohio State University and received her doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Cerza joined Wegmans this year as pharmacy area manager. She was previously pharmacy manager for a national drug store chain. Cerza will oversee the Wegmans pharmacy and its staff, helping customers live healthier, better lives. Pharmacy services include expert health and wellness consultations, immunizations, text alerts, pet meds, auto-refill of prescriptions, free home shipping, and competitively low prices on select generic prescriptions.
Perishable Area Manager Rob Campbell
Rob Campbell has a business degree from Alfred University and has been employed by Wegmans since 2002. He has prior experience in a variety of positions, starting as a part-time cashier and later moving into roles as a management intern, deli manager, employee representative, front end manager, and service area manager. In his new role at Lancaster, he will supervise fresh product quality, sales, and employee development for the perishable departments in the store, including produce, floral, bakery, seafood, meat, cheese, and deli and charcuterie.
Merchandising Area Manager Ann Sturm
Ann Sturm attended the Pennsylvania College of Technology and began working at Wegmans in the meat department in 1995. She has previously served as meat manager, seafood manager, grocery manager, and front end manager. In her new role, she oversees merchandising, sales, and employee development for the grocery, dairy, frozen foods, natural wellness, home and entertaining, health and beauty, wine, and beer departments. Sturm will work collaboratively across the store to ensure that the thousands of products that Wegmans offers are well displayed and well stocked.
Service Area Manager Rob Starnes
Rob Starnes has a business degree from Kaplan University and is a former nuclear machinist mate in the US Navy. Hes been a Wegmans employee since 2006 and previously worked in positions ranging from bakery team leader to overnight operations manager, meat manager, seafood manager, and front end manager. As a new service area manager in Lancaster, he will oversee the front end, customer service desk, maintenance, accounting office, and Helping Hands (parking lot attendants). Starnes will also oversee community giving for the store, carrying out Wegmans commitment to making a difference in every community it serves.
