Wegmans and Local Rochester Organizations Honor 9/11 Through Community Meal Pack Event

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Wegmans Food Markets, in partnership with 9/11 Day hosted a community meal pack event on September 11, 2026, bringing together local companies, first responders, and nonprofit partners in Rochester to honor the 25th anniversary of September 11 through service.

Held at the Wegmans Conference Center, the event welcomed more than 400 volunteers who packed healthy, shelf-stable meals for local families in need. The meals will be distributed through Foodlink, which works to address food insecurity across the Greater Rochester region.

The event was part of 9/11 Day's nationwide effort to transform the anniversary of September 11 into a day of remembrance and service. Across the country, volunteers participated in meal-packing events and other acts of service designed to bring people together and create positive impact in their communities.

In Rochester, Wegmans was joined by local organizations including Pike Construction, Rochester Regional Health, LeChase Construction, University of Rochester, Paychex, Canandaigua National Bank, local nonprofit organizations, first responders, and many others. Meals of Hope served as the event's meal-pack partner, providing the dry ingredients used to assemble more than 145,000 multi-serving oatmeal kits and helping coordinate the packaging effort.

“The impact of 9/11 Day’s meal packs across the nation is inspiring, and we were honored to bring this meaningful day of service to Rochester,” said Deana Percassi, Vice President of Community Engagement and Communications. “This event gave our community the opportunity to come together, remember those lost, and support families in need.”
9/11 Day, originally known as MyGoodDeed, was founded to encourage acts of service and remembrance on the anniversary of September 11. Its meal pack program brings volunteers together in cities across the country to assemble meals for people facing hunger.

By hosting the event in Rochester, Wegmans helped extend the 9/11 Day mission locally while reinforcing its long-standing commitment to hunger relief, health, and strengthening the communities it serves.
