Wegmans Partners with CBS Television Stations to Encourage Donations During Annual Check Out Hunger Campaign

Wegmans has maintained a longstanding commitment to supporting local food banks through both daily food donations and annual scan campaigns. Since its inception more than 30 years ago, the Wegmans Check Out Hunger scan campaign has generated nearly $55 million in contributions.

This year, Wegmans is collaborating with CBS to promote the Check Out Hunger (COH) campaign across several CBS local news affiliates. Beginning in the first full week of November, these affiliates launched the joint Season of Giving: Check Out Hunger initiative, disseminating information about the COH campaign, addressing issues related to food insecurity, and highlighting additional ways in which Wegmans supports efforts to alleviate hunger.

According to Feeding America, over 47 million individuals in the United States experience food insecurity. The annual Check Out Hunger campaign provides essential funding to Wegmans’ 50 Feeding America food bank partners, who offer sustained assistance to families facing food insecurity throughout the year.

“Every dollar is significant in combating hunger, and we are deeply grateful to our customers and employees for their ongoing support in addressing food insecurity within our communities,” stated Linda Lovejoy, Wegmans community relations manager. “This campaign not only delivers vital funding to our local food bank partners during the busy holiday season but also supports their programs year-round.”

The collaboration with CBS culminated on Saturday, November 15, when select Wegmans stores in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Metro NY, and Boston welcomed local news representatives to encourage donations for the Check Out Hunger campaign.
