Stove Top Preparation: 1. In medium (2-qt) saucepan, bring 2 cups water and dash salt (optional) to a boil. 2. Stir in 1 cup barley. Reduce heat; cover. 3. Simmer 10 to 12 minutes or until tender. 4. Remove from heat; let stand 5 minutes. About 3 cups.
