Stove Top Instructions: In a large saucepan with tight fitting lid, bring 3-1/2 cups (28 oz) of water to a boil. Add 1 tbsp of butter or margarine (optional), then one package of Vigo Red Beans & Rice, stirring while boiling for one minute. Cover saucepan tightly. Reduce heat to simmer, cook for 20-25 minutes. Fluff and serve. This product makes its own gravy. For drier rice, use 3 & 1/4 cups of water. Microwave Directions: Combine contents of this package, 3 & 3/4 cups hot tap water and 1 tablespoon butter or margarine (optional) in a 1-1/2 quart microwave casserole dish. Cover and microwave on high for 22 minutes. Stir. Let stand, covered for 5 minutes. Serve. The Big Easy Recipe: Serving Suggestion for a one dish meal: Add 1/4-1/2 lb sliced, smoked sausage or smoked ham at the same time rice is added.
