Product Details

Designed in the U.S.A. Made in Shenzhen, China. Trucking down the road...Our story began in 1916 when brothers John and Walter Wegman became fresh produce pushcart peddlers. We've come a long way since they walked behind their pushcarts! Ninety-four years later our fleet consists of a approximately 220 tractors (that's the front part of the truck), 640 trailers (the back part that carries our groceries), and about 350 drivers that travel up mountain slopes and along river beds across seven states to safely deliver fresh products to our stores every day. That's over 27 million miles per year. Our drivers receive special training on how to operate the tractors efficiently to save fuel and reduce damaging emissions from entering the atmosphere. In addition, the staff in Wegmans Transportation Department is constantly looking for new engines that are reliable, durable, efficient, safe, and comfortable. They also calculate best routes for fuel savings so deliveries arrive as needed, but less fuel is used because fewer miles are traveled. A few years ago we began replacing our fleet with engines that were designed to our own specifications. The new tractors are equipped with 10-speed transmissions that allow the driver to control the pulling power of the truck across different driving conditions, for the best combination of performance and fuel economy. They are equipped with special filters to reduce emissions, and run on an ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel. The top speed of the new tractors is set at 65 miles per hour and drivers are encouraged to use cruise control wherever practical to conserve even more fuel. All of these steps are good for the environment and good for driver safety and comfort. And, they help keep food affordable. Remember, your satisfaction is always guaranteed with Wegmans brand products. - The Wegman Family.
