Cooking Jasmati Rice: 1 cup uncooked rice, 2 cups water, 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional), 1 teaspoon butter (optional), 1. Combine rice and water in a medium saucepan. 2. Bring to a boil, stir once. 3. Cover with tight fitting lid or foil; reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes. 4. Remove from heat and let stand (covered) 5-10 minutes longer. Makes approximately 3 cups cooked rice.
