Whole grain. A milder, unbromated 100% whole wheat flour. 1/4 Cup Provides: 1 whole grain serving toward your goal of 3 per day. Dietary guidelines say to eat 3 oz whole grain foods daily. White whole wheat flour contains 100% of the wheat germ, bran and endosperm of the wheat grain. Just one quarter cup is one full serving of whole grains. And this flour has all the fiber and nutrition of traditional whole wheat with milder flavor and lighter color and tends to produce a slightly sweeter flavor than traditional all-purpose flour. Although white whole wheat flour has a slightly darker color than traditional all-purpose flour, you will really only notice a slight difference in very light-colored baked goods, such as sugar cookies, angel food cakes, and pound cakes. Start by substituting 1/2 of the all-purpose flour in your favorite recipes with white whole wheat flour, gradually increasing until the flavor and texture of your baked goods are just how you like it.
