Add milk, egg, butter, mix & bake. History of Nellie Gavin: Nellie Gavin was from County Mayo, Ireland and moved to the USA in 1928. She married James Gavin and they raised eight children in Yonkers, NY. In 1961, Nellie and James purchased Gavin's Irish Country Inn (www.gavins.com) in the Northern Catskills (exit 21 off NYS thruway) where Nellie shared her famous Irish Bread with all her guests. Ingredients

Unbleached Wheat Flour (Malted Barley Flour, Niacin, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Raisins, Sugar, Baking Powder.

Directions

You Will Need: 2 tablespoons butter (softened); 1 egg; 1 cup buttermilk or 1 cup whole milk; 8 inch round or 4 inch x 9 inch loaf pan, greased and floured. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Stir contents of Nellie Gavin's Irish Bread Mix in a large mixing bowl. Separately mix buttermilk (or whole milk) with egg and butter in a small bowl. Combine egg, milk and butter mixture into flour mixture and stir until moist. Remove dough from bowl and spread into lightly floured pan. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until knife inserted fully into center of bread comes out clean. Cool loaf in pan on cooling rack for 15 minutes, remove from pan. Cool completely before slicing. Serve buttered. Tastes delicious toasted.
