Wegmans Lancaster is Now Hiring for 300 Part-Time Positions in Lead-Up to September Opening

LANCASTER, PA, Apr 16, 2018With 300 part-time positions to fill, hiring and training for the new 120,000 square-foot Wegmans Food Market in Lancaster is swinging into high gear. The long-awaited supermarket opens this September at The Crossings at Conestoga Creek in Manheim Township, on the southwest corner of Harrisburg Pike and U.S. Route 30.

Part-time job openings span a variety of positions across every department in the store, including customer service and culinary roles like chefs and line cooks. Hiring for 175 full-time jobs began in February and is ongoing for select openings, such as bakers, cooks, and dishwashers.

Applicants are encouraged to apply online at www.wegmans.com/careers, or call 717-358-9494 for more information. Applications are not accepted at the store construction site, and interviews are conducted at a Wegmans employment office in Park City Center Mall.

The most important qualification is a willingness to learn and grow. Though the opening is months away, new employees begin training soon after theyre hired so that when we open the doors, theyre knowledgeable about our offerings and ready to provide incredible customer service, says Wegmans Store Manager Jimmy Bellis. I couldnt be more pleased with the quality of local applicants here. Were already off to a fantastic start in Lancaster County.

The family-owned supermarket chain is widely recognized as an exceptional employer. For 21 consecutive years, Wegmans has ranked high on FORTUNE magazines list of The 100 Best Companies to Work For, placing #2 in 2018. Flexible scheduling, competitive pay and benefits, and a supportive work environment are among the reasons most often cited by employees when asked what drew them to Wegmans. The companys employee scholarship program is a case in point.

Founded in 1984, the program has awarded $110 million in college tuition assistance to more than 35,000 employees. Part-time employee scholarship recipients are eligible to receive up to $1,500 per year for four years (a maximum of $6,000), and full-time employees can receive up to $2,200 per year for four years (up to $8,800 total). No limit is placed on the number of scholarships awarded each year and no restrictions are made on a students area of study.

Wegmans Lancaster will employ approximately 475 people, 425 of whom will be new to the company and hired locally. The store will feature The Burger Bar, a family-friendly, casual restaurant counter that serves delicious burgers, fresh salads, flavorful sandwiches, milkshakes, soup, and sides.

Wegmans currently operates 17 stores and its Retail Service Center distribution hub in Pennsylvania.
