Wegmans Food Markets is now hiring and training for 325 part-time positions at its new location in Owings Mills, set to open Sunday, Sept. 18 at 7 a.m. The company’s eighth store in Maryland is part of Foundry Row, a retail and office complex located at the intersection of Reisterstown (Route 140) and Painters Mill Roads.
Recruitment for full-time positions began in February and is ongoing, with openings remaining in many departments. In total, the store will employ 475 people, 425 of whom will be new to the company and hired locally.
Applicants may apply online at www.wegmans.com/careers or call 1-877-WEGMANS (934-6267), choosing option 5 for more information. Interviews are conducted by appointment only and applications are neither available nor accepted at the construction site.
“We’re looking for friendly, outgoing people who take pride in their work and enjoy being part of a team,” said Owings Mills Store Manager Matt LePore, who began as a part-time cashier with Wegmans while in high school and attended college with tuition assistance from the company’s employee scholarship program. “Our training provides the rest, and every position here offers opportunities for career growth.”
Founded in 1984, the Wegmans Employee Scholarship Program awards tuition assistance to employees who meet specific academic, employment and work-performance criteria. Part-time workers can receive up to $1,500 per year and full-time workers up to $2,200 per year for four years, with no restrictions on the course of study or post-college career path.
Wegmans is a family-owned company known for incredible customer service, consistent low prices, and restaurant-quality prepared foods. The 109,000 square-foot Owings Mills store will feature The Burger Bar, a family-friendly, casual restaurant counter that serves delicious burgers, fresh salads, flavorful sandwiches, specialty milkshakes, soups, and sides.
The company is also opening new stores in Midlothian, Short Pump, and Charlottesville, Va. this year.
