At first glance, you may think it’s a hearty stout beer but take one sip and you’ll understand the excitement behind the Nitro coffee craze. This new cold brew is slow-steeped for 24 hours and infused with nitrogen to create a one-of-a-kind, creamy, velvety coffee with a foamy head. Stored in kegs and served cold, straight from the tap, Nitro coffee is slightly bubbly and packs a robust caffeine punch. Wegmans fair trade organic Buzz beans, paired with the extended steeping, results in a naturally sweeter taste.
Java fanatics can try the Nitro coffee at The Buzz Coffee Shop in Rochester’s East Ave. Wegmans, or at the newly opened Wegmans in Midlothian, Va. Plans are underway to roll Nitro coffee out to other locations over the coming months.
Cold Brew Available at All Wegmans Buzz Coffee Shops
Wegmans cold brew coffee, also slow-steeped for 24 hours and crafted in small batches using the same fair trade organic Buzz beans, is available now at all Wegmans Buzz Coffee Shops. The new drink is an incredibly smooth, chilled pick-me-up perfect for summer’s hottest days.
“We’re excited to offer our customers new ways to experience and enjoy coffee – whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or simply enjoy it as an occasional treat,” said Donna Kittrell, Wegmans category merchant. “Customers LOVE this trendy, new drink - the response has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Customers looking for added flavor can try the Hawaiian Salted Caramel cold brew or nitro by adding a shot (or two!) of flavoring syrup. All flavored syrups used at Buzz Coffee Shops contain no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Organic milk options are also available. Organic smoothies, lattes (hot or iced), a large selection of brewed coffees, frappes, iced teas and breakfast sandwiches can all be found on the Buzz Coffee Shop menus every day.
