Celebrating its 100th Anniversary, Wegmans is one of the largest family-owned companies in America, with 89 stores in six states, which includes the recent opening of Midlothian, Virginia store on May 22, 2016. Wegmans will continue to expand its footprint in the region serviced by the RSC with the addition of two new stores in Virginia and one in Maryland in 2016, and two new stores in New Jersey in 2017.
“As we continue to expand our footprint, the RSC will remain a cornerstone of growth and play an integral role in the success of the new stores, as well as our established stores throughout the region,” said Lance Miller, RSC director of Operations. “It’s certainly an exciting time to be part of Wegmans and the RSC, as there truly is endless opportunity for employees to grow their careers right alongside the company’s growth. We have multiple paths for career success and give our employees the freedom to explore any career area at any Wegmans location.”
One way Wegmans helps employees achieve their career goals is through extensive on-the-job training, as well as the Wegmans Employee Scholarship Program. Founded in 1984, the program awards tuition assistance to employees who meet specific academic, employment and work-performance criteria. Part-time workers can receive up to $1,500 per year and full-time workers up to $2,200 per year for four years, with no restrictions on the course of study or post-college career path.
“In addition to the opportunity to create a fulfilling career at Wegmans, our employees tell us they like working for us because of flexible scheduling, competitive pay and benefits, the friendly atmosphere, and the opportunity to work for a company with a reputation they’re proud of,” said Jake Fox, Perishable Area Manager.
Wegmans, well-known for its incredible customer service, is also widely recognized as an exceptional employer. For 18 consecutive years it has ranked high on FORTUNE magazine’s list of “The 100 Best Companies to Work For,” placing fourth in 2016.
