Wegmans Southern Tier Customers Donate $23,451 to United Way in Fall Checkout Scanning Campaign

Rochester, NY, December 07, 2015 -

During the fall 2015 United Way checkout scanning campaign at five Wegmans stores in the Southern Tier of New York, donations totaled $23,451. The United Way checkout scanning campaign, which ran from late October through early November, allowed customers at Wegmans stores in Corning, Elmira, Hornell, Ithaca, and Johnson City to donate $1, $2 $3, $5 or any other amount at checkout.

“We’re grateful to our customers and employees for their generosity in recognizing the vital role of the United Way,” said Patty Kaminski, Wegmans’ district manager of the Southern Tier stores. “These checkout donations are invested in programs that make a positive local impact in the community.”

All proceeds go directly to the community fund at the United Way of the Southern Tier, the United Way of Broome County, and the United Way of Tompkins County. The United Way scan campaign at Wegmans has raised over $100,000 dollars in the Southern Tier since it began in 2009.
