Hiring is now underway for 200 full-time employees at Wegmans Food Markets’ Short Pump store, opening summer 2016 at West Broad Street near North Gayton Road. Available positions include everything from entry-level management to customer service, culinary, and restaurant service. Hiring and training are also ongoing for Wegmans’ Midlothian store, set to open in spring 2016.
“It’s unique for us to open two stores within a short timeframe in a new market, which makes this the ideal time to apply,” said Wegmans Human Resources Manager Heather Gole. “With both stores now hiring for full-time positions, there are many opportunities and great potential for growth.”
Each store will employ approximately 550 people, 500 of whom will be hired locally. Hiring for part-time positions will begin at a later date.
Full-time job applicants are encouraged to apply online at www.wegmans.com/careers, or call 1-877-WEGMANS (934-6267) for more information. Applications are not accepted at the store or construction site, nor will interviews be conducted there. Wegmans will begin scheduling interviews for its Short Pump location in mid-November at an employment office in Glen Allen.
“This is a caring, family-owned company and we’ll celebrate 100 years in business next year as we open in Richmond,” said Wegmans Short Pump Store Manager Todd Strassner, who began working for the company 34 years ago. “We offer competitive pay and benefits, flexible scheduling, and above all, a great place to work.”
Wegmans Short Pump is a 120,000 square-foot supermarket located at West Broad Marketplace. The store will include The Pub by Wegmans, a full-service family restaurant known for fresh, seasonal food and local craft beer.
The company will open four new stores in 2016, located in Midlothian, Short Pump, and Charlottesville Va., as well as Owings Mills, Md.
