Wegmans Issues Clarification Regarding Niagara Bottling's Voluntary Recall of Various Brands of Spring Water

Rochester, NY, June 20, 2015 -

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. issued clarification to a public notice by Niagara Bottling, LLC regarding a voluntary product recall of various brands of bottled spring water, including Wegmans Food You Feel Good About (FYFGA) Spring Water, 16.9 oz.    The recall was prompted by concerns that one of Niagara Bottling’s spring sources was contaminated with E. coli, found in the water supply on June 10, 2015.

Before bottling, this water is treated with a continuous ozonation process, a proven kill step for E.coli.

“Because our supplier’s announcement did not have details for our products, we are providing this clarification,” said Jo Natale, Wegmans vice president of media relations.   “We want to be sure our customers know the recall is limited to 16.9 oz. Wegmans (FYFGA) Spring Water, sold individually or in multi-packs. We are asking customers to read the label carefully for the code date and to look for Niagara Bottling, LLC.”

Natale went on to explain that Wegmans has other types and sizes of bottled water packed by other suppliers not impacted.

Only product with code dates in this range, and Niagara Bottling LLC on the label, are part of this recall:
