  1. Add half each of the onion, cilantro, jalapeno, and salt to mortar; grind into paste using pestle. Add half each of the avocado, tomato, and lime juice. Combine with onion-cilantro paste using rubber spatula. Transfer to serving bowl.
  2. Repeat step 1 with remaining ingredients. Combine batches; chill.
