Pan-Steamed Broccoli



  1. Heat olive oil, garlic, and anchovy in braising pan on MED-LOW. Cook, stirring, 2-3 min, until anchovy fillet is dissolved. 
  2. Raise heat to HIGH. Add broccoli, water, and salt. Stir to combine. Bring to a simmer; cover. Cook, stirring occasionally, about 8 min or until water is evaporated. Season to taste with pepper.
  • Add 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes.
  • For a more pronounced anchovy flavor, use 2 anchovy fillets.
  • Vegetarian option: 1 1/2 tsp capers or 1 1/2 tsp kalamata olive tapanade in place of anchovy.
  • Store remaining anchovies in original tin that's placed in plastic baggie, then plastic airtight container in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
