  1. Heat oil in soup pot. Add onions and mushrooms; cook on MEDIUM 10-12 min until soft, stirring occasionally.
     
  2. Reduce heat to LOW. Stir in flour.
     
  3. Add broth in a steady stream, mixing continuously to blend with flour.
     
  4. Add bay leaf, bring back to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered, 15 min.
     
  5. Add orzo and cook 6-8 min, until tender. Discard bay leaf. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
