  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine onion, salt, pepper, and basting oil. Arrange in single layer on parchment paper-lined baking sheet. 
     
  2. Cook 30 min on middle rack of oven, stirring every 10 min. Remove from oven; let cool. 
     
  3. Add ground beef, BBQ seasoning, and onion mixture to large bowl. Mix well; form into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper.
     
  4. Preheat grill on HIGH 10 min. Coat cleaned grill grate lightly with vegetable oil.
     
  5. Sear burgers on grill 2 min, until they have changed color about one-quarter of way up from bottom. Turn over; sear 2-3 min. Turn again; reduce heat to MED or LOW. Close lid.
     
  6. Cook burgers to desired doneness.*
     
  7. Transfer burgers to clean platter. Serve on rolls.

* If using non-irradiated ground beef, or if adding raw ingredients (not ready to eat) like raw eggs or raw produce, cook to 160 degrees.
