  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Add brown sugar to bottom of a 9-inch round buttered cake pan. Pour 1/2 cup melted butter over brown sugar; sprinkle with 1/4 cup toasted pecans. Arrange apples, rounded-side down, over sugar mixture in pan.
     
  2. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together; set aside.
     
  3. Combine eggs and granulated sugar in mixer bowl; whip with whisk attachment on HIGH, until thick and light. Fold in vanilla and yogurt, then flour mixture. Add remaining pecans; gently fold, until evenly mixed (should resemble pancake batter).
     
  4. Spoon batter over apples; spread with spatula. Place cake pan on baking sheet. Bake 60-65 min, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let set 3-4 min; invert pan and remove cake. Serve.
