  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees with rack in center. Lightly coat baking pans with cooking spray.
     
  2. Add cake mix, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, molasses, maple syrup and melted butter to mixer bowl. Mix until crumbly. Add egg; mix until combined. Scrape bowl. Add half the milk; scrape bowl. Add rest of milk; mix until smooth. Scrape bowl. 
     
  3. Fill pans evenly about 3/4 full. Bake 20-25 min, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out mostly clean.
     
  4. Cool cake in pan 10 min on cooling rack. Flip pan over to remove cakes. (If frosting, cool completely.) 
Chef Tips
  • Cake can be baked in 8-inch square pan 32-35 minutes.
  • Dust cooled cake with confectioners' sugar.
