Description

The United States has the best oranges in the world! First introduced by Spanish missionaries to Florida and California, most of our supply still comes from these two states. Due to differences in soil and climate, Florida and California oranges -- even those of the same variety -- vary in color, texture and juiciness.

Varieties

Florida
Florida oranges are thin-skinned, very juicy and very easy to squeeze. Florida oranges are less than picture perfect when they are perfect to eat. You'll see orange, yellow and green skins marked with blemishes.

California
California oranges are rated the finest eating or table oranges. They usually have the full orange color (due to a drier climate with cooler nights), with a thicker skin and less juiciness than the Florida fruit.
