Congratulations to Claire for winning our “Win a Year’s Supply of CocoPops” contest!

Claire’s favorite way to enjoy her CocoPops:

“I love having them topped with almond butter for a protein kick in the afternoon!”

Thank you everyone who participated. We learned Nutella was a popular choice, and we loved hearing all of your creative and scrumptious ideas.

You truly showed us that the possibilities are endless with CocoPops!

This contest is now closed.

CocoPops have taken our Nature’s Marketplace Depts by storm!

We first discovered the product and the cool machines that make them in New York City’s Chinatown 2 ½ years ago while searching for new ideas and trends.  We’re always out looking for unique items to bring to our customers and add some fun to your weekly shopping trip.  Nature’s is the place where we feature many products that come from smaller, cutting edge companies.

CocoPop machine at Calkins Rd (Rochester, NY)When we saw (or rather heard!) these machines, we loved the animation and the fresh production.  Plus, the 16 calorie, 5mg sodium multi-grain cakes, made with rice, corn, wheat, and sea salt, are a great low-carb snacking alternative. So, we decided to test them out at our Pittsford, NY store to see what you would think. We soon found that the signature popping sound and fresh baked aroma had customers gathering to find out more and grab a taste.

What has been a pleasant surprise is how much fun our employees and customers have had finding creative ways to enjoy these versatile items.

For example, Barbara Schlierf at our Calkins Rd store in Rochester, NY has created cheeseburgers (to cut the carbs), pesto pizza, and crackers made with Wegmans Basting Oil and BBQ seasoning.  Barbara asked me to share with you the secret to success here is using a brush to get an even spread of any oil or sauce.

Cathy Whitehead at our Bridgewater, NJ store created a list of over 30 toppings and recipe ideas!  My vote for most creative is the idea of dipping them in an egg batter to make French toast!

  5. A couple of my family’s favorite ways to enjoy CocoPops are Nutella or peanut butter–the possibilities are endless! They may not be the healthiest, but we figure the topping isn’t so bad since it’s on the healthy CocoPop.

  8. they are amazing the best way for a fat free (well somewhat) snack bannanas and strawberries on top with light cool whip!!!

  9. I absolutely love these puffs! I utilize them in everything, from egg white sandwiches (be wary that they can get soggy quickly in this instance) to substitutes for bread in my favorite lunch sandwiches. They are fantastic as “mini pizzas” (throw some healthy low sugar tomato sauce on a cocopop, add a light amount of ricotta cheese and dried basil, top with a pinch of shredded mozzarella and microwave for 10-15 seconds). Another great use is to break them into pieces on game day and serve alongside the salsa as an alternative to tortilla chips. They are also EXCELLENT with hummus!

  10. Being on weight watchers these are a great solution to my cravings for carbs just as they are – the perfect treat – but when I feel like gobbling up some of my extra points I spread sugar free preserves (seedless red raspberry) on them or sometimes make a scrambled egg and cheese sandwich with the cocopops.

  11. I make a quick breakfast snack, as I am running out the door, and spread Nutella on them. It is delicious! I LOVE these!

  13. Dip them in honey… yummy!

  14. Being that I am a HUGE dessert fanatic but am looking to cut down on the amount of desserts that i consume, COCO POP’s are a great way to make a sweet treat, healthier~!
Instead of the ice cream sundaes or cakes/cupcakes that I used to enjoy, I love taking sorbet’s or gelato’s and spreading them on COCO POP’s to make an ‘ice cream sandwich’ if i may. The crunchy rice cake and the cold smooth dessert combo is to die for.

Lisa commented on September 15, 2010.
  15. cream cheese and strawberry jam!
